SVG Engineering acted as the Construction Supervision Consultant for several key work items, including pile installation, sheet piling works, slab beam systems, anchor beams, internal roads, revetment block embankments, and other related infrastructure works under the Vung Xec Do Son Project. This is one of the large-scale coastal infrastructure projects with complex technical requirements, implemented under the distinctive site conditions of tidal flat and coastal areas. During project execution, construction supervision played a particularly important role in ensuring quality, progress, occupational safety, as well as compliance with technical requirements in accordance with the design documents and current standards.

  • Based on the actual site images, it can be observed that the project is being implemented on complex coastal geological conditions directly affected by tides, saline water environments, and challenging construction conditions. This requires the construction supervision work to be carried out continuously, strictly, and in close coordination among the contractors, supervision consultants, and the Client to ensure that all work items meet technical requirements before proceeding to subsequent construction stages.
  • One of the key components of the project is the construction of slab beams and anchor beams within the coastal protection and marine infrastructure structural system. The reinforcement system for the slab beams is fabricated and installed with high density, requiring a high level of accuracy in steel tying, spacing arrangement, and connections between structural elements. The supervision work focuses on inspecting the steel type, bar diameter, reinforcement spacing, anchorage and lap splice lengths, as well as installation elevations and positioning prior to concrete casting.
  • For the formwork works, the steel formwork system was installed in an integrated manner to ensure geometric accuracy and structural stability during concrete casting. SVG Engineering’s supervision consultants carried out inspections of the support system stability, formwork connections, and construction safety measures under coastal environmental conditions characterized by strong winds and tidal impacts. Any deviations in dimensions, elevations, or structural positioning were required to be corrected prior to the inspection and acceptance procedures.
  • Concrete was supplied using specialized pumping equipment to ensure construction progress and quality within areas of limited working space. SVG Engineering’s supervising engineers conducted inspections on concrete slump, transportation time, vibration and compaction procedures, as well as post-casting curing works in order to minimize risks of surface honeycombing, segregation, or structural cracking caused by hot weather conditions and the saline environment.
  • In addition, supervision of pile and sheet pile installation was also a particularly important aspect of the project. The concrete pile and sheet pile systems were constructed directly in the marine environment, requiring high accuracy in positioning and verticality control. Prior to pile driving or pressing operations, positioning inspections were carefully conducted based on the site coordinate system and control benchmarks to ensure that each structural element was installed in accordance with the design documents.
  • The inspection of pile and sheet pile positioning is not only intended to ensure the geometric accuracy of the structure but also directly affects the load-bearing capacity and overall stability of the coastal revetment system. Under weak soil conditions, even minor deviations in pile position or inclination may significantly impact the performance of the entire structural system. Therefore, the supervision work was regularly combined with site surveying, inspection of construction equipment, and monitoring of pile installation processes in order to promptly identify and address any arising issues.
  • The installation of sheet piles in a marine environment requires close coordination among lifting equipment, guiding systems, and construction personnel. SVG Engineering’s supervision consultants were responsible for inspecting the quality of structural components prior to installation, monitoring the sheet pile installation process, and controlling verticality and final elevations to ensure that the revetment system met both technical and aesthetic requirements.
  • For the revetment block embankment works, this is an important solution for protecting the coastline against wave action and erosion. The supervision work focused on inspecting materials, block dimensions, construction sequences, and the stability of the revetment slope after completion. Foundation layers, filter layers, and protective components were thoroughly inspected to ensure effective wave energy dissipation and the long-term stability of the structure in the marine environment.
  • In parallel with the coastal structural works, supervision of the internal road system was also implemented comprehensively to support transportation and project operation. Under the construction conditions of weak soil foundations and tidal flat areas, particular attention was given to controlling ground elevations, compaction of fill materials, and drainage capacity. Supervising engineers regularly conducted site inspections, reviewed design documents, and carried out acceptance procedures for each construction stage to ensure the project’s quality and progress.
  • In addition to technical aspects, occupational safety management at the project site was also given special attention. The supervision consultants coordinated closely with the contractors to regularly inspect safety measures, scaffolding systems, lifting equipment, and accident prevention procedures in order to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel on site.
  • Material quality supervision also played a significant role throughout the project implementation process. Materials such as steel, concrete, pile and sheet pile components, as well as revetment materials, were inspected for origin, quality certificates, and laboratory testing in accordance with regulations before being put into use. Input quality control helped minimize technical risks and ensured the long-term durability of the project under the highly corrosive marine environment.
  • In addition to direct on-site supervision activities, documentation and acceptance procedures were also implemented in a strict and systematic manner. Upon completion of each work item, inspections, measurements, and acceptance records were carried out in accordance with the prescribed procedures. Construction logs, material testing results, internal acceptance reports, and supervision consultant acceptance records were fully documented and archived to support quality management and project completion documentation.
  • The Vung Xec Do Son Project is not only an important coastal infrastructure project for the region but also demonstrates the capability in organizing, managing, and implementing complex engineering projects under specialized construction conditions. Through the supervision of slab beams, anchor beams, piles, sheet piles, revetment block embankments, and the internal road system, SVG Engineering’s construction engineers contributed significantly to ensuring the overall quality, safety, and progress of the project.
  • As a coastal project directly affected by harsh natural environmental conditions, requirements for construction quality and structural durability were regarded as top priorities. The supervision work extended beyond technical inspection and involved comprehensive coordination among multiple disciplines in order to control all aspects of the project, including materials, equipment, manpower, and on-site construction methods. This was a key factor contributing to the project’s success and its long-term operational effectiveness in the future.
