Monitoring and acceptance of reinforcing steel is extremely important. Reinforcing steel is the main material that makes up the house frame system, so construction supervision of these works must ensure that the construction process complies with technical regulations and standards.

SUPERVISE AND ACCEPT STEEL REINFORCEMENT WORK IN VIETNAM

Reinforcing steel installation supervision includes:

1- Check the quality of reinforcement materials, clear origin, and have quality certificates to ensure compliance with design.

Refer to Vietnamese national standards: TCVN 1651-1, TCVN 1651-2, TCVN 1651-3 (ISO 6935-3), TCVN 1811: 2009, TCVN 6287:1997

2- Check reinforcement when processing.

- The surface is clean, free from mud, grease, iron flakes and rust layers.

- Steel bars with reduced cross-section due to cleaning or other causes must not exceed the allowable limit of 2% of the diameter.

- Reinforcing steel needs to be pulled, bent and straightened.

- Steel types that do not match the dimensions and technical requirements of the drawings cannot be used.

3- Check cutting and bending of rebar

- Check to see that the steel is only cut and bent mechanically. Use very little heat to bend and cut steel. Temperature will change the properties of steel and affect the quality of the project.

- Deviation in size: Each meter length is not more than 5mm, the entire length is not more than 20mm.

- Deviation in bending point position: The entire length is not more than 20mm.

- Deviation in bending angle: Not more than 300°.

- Deviation in bending size: Not exceeding the thickness of the protective concrete layer..

4- Supervision and inspection of reinforcement welding.

- When manufacturing frames and reinforced mesh, the following regulations can be followed:

+ For smooth round steel: Weld all intersection points.
+ For steel with edges: Weld all intersection points in the 2 outer perimeter rows, the remaining points in the middle are welded in 1 row in alternating order.

- For steel frames: Weld all intersection points.

- Welding joints must have a smooth surface, no burns, no breaks, no local shrinkage, no bubbles, ensuring the length and height of the weld seam according to the design.

5- Supervision and inspection of reinforcing steel joints.

- Do not connect at pressure points and bends. In one horizontal surface of the structural section, do not connect more than 50% of the steel bars.

- The connection must satisfy the following requirements:

 + The tie length of the frame load-bearing reinforcement and steel mesh is not less than 40d for the steel in the tension concrete area, not less than 25d for the steel in the compression concrete area (d is the diameter of the connecting reinforcement). .

 + When connecting and tying the reinforcement in the tension zone, hook bending is required for smooth round reinforcement, steel with edges does not need hook bending.

 + Steel wire ties use soft steel wire with a diameter of 1 mm.

 + In joints, it is necessary to tie at least 3 positions (middle and 2 ends).

6- Supervise and inspect the transportation and erection of steel reinforcement.

- Transporting steel reinforcement:

 + Do not damage or deform the product.
 + Reinforcement bars should be tied into batches according to type to avoid confusion when used.
 + Pre-fabricated frames and reinforced mesh should be divided into small parts suitable for the vehicle.

- Installing steel reinforcement:

 + The front mounting part does not interfere with the rear mounting part.
 + Have measures to stabilize steel reinforcement during the concrete pouring process.
 + The spacers are placed in appropriate positions, depending on the density of reinforcement but not greater than 1m per space. The spacer is as thick as the concrete layer that protects the reinforcement, made of materials that do not corrode the reinforcement and are identical to the concrete.

7- Check holes buried in the structure for cable routing or details of future equipment installation and pre-placed details made of steel or other materials that will be buried in concrete in terms of quantity and location with standard accuracy.

8- Supervise inspection and acceptance of steel reinforcement.

- Conformity of types of reinforcement compared to design.

- Reinforcement processing, cutting and bending methods and cleaning of reinforcement before processing.

- Welding work: Workers, equipment, welding rods, welding technology and welding equipment.

- Reinforcement connection work.

- Transporting and erecting steel reinforcement.

- Inspection order as prescribed in Table 10 TCVN 4453 - 1995
